By Air

By Road

Guwahati is very well connected with the adjoining cities and states through bus service. The three nodal points of Adabari, Paltan Bazar and ISBT Guwahati provide bus services to towns and cities in Assam and adjoining states.

Guwahati Airport / Rly Station–Shillong (100Kms/03Hrs)

On arrival at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station & transfer to Shillong (4,900 ft.), called 'Scotland of the East". Enroute visit Umium Lake, a majestic placid lake with its surrounding sylvan hills. On arrival at Shillong, check in at your hotel. Overnight stay at Shillong.

Shillong Sightseeing

After breakfast visit Don Bosco Museum, Ward’s Lake, Botanical Garden and Lady Hydari Park. Evening is free for personal activities. Overnight stay at Shillong.

Shillong-Cherrapunjee (60Kms / 4Hrs)

After breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee (4,400 ft.), the wettest place in the world. On the way enjoy Mawkdok Valley, Nohkalikai falls, Dainthelen Falls and Ramkrishna Mission (drive pass). On arrival at Cherrapunjee, check in at your hotel. Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.

Cherrapunjee Local Sightseeing

After breakfast we get ready for a half day trek to visit the Double Decker Living Root Bridge deep inside the jungle. It will take 3 to 4 hrs (depending on the physical fitness of the person). Afternoon visit Nohsngithiang Falls (also known as the Seven Sisters Waterfalls or Mawsmai Falls), Mawsmai Cave, Koh Ram Hah and Ecopark. Evening back to the hotel. Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee.

Cherrapunjee-Pobitora National Park (184Kms / 5Hrs)

After breakfast proceed to Pobitora wildlife sanctuary covering 38.8 Sq. kms areas. Pobitora is the highest Rhino concentrated area in the world. Among the other animals like the Asiatic Buffalo, Leopard, Wild Bear, Civet Cat etc. are available here. More than 200 birds and various reptiles are found in this sanctuary. On arrival check in to the hotel. Evening free for leisure or proceed for a nature walk in and around the park. Overnight stay at Pobitora.

Pobitora National Park–Kaziranga (146Kms / 4Hrs)

Early morning, proceed for an elephant safari (subject to availability). Return to hotel for breakfast. Later, proceed for Jeep Safari into Pobitora. Afternoon transfer to Kaziranga National Park, the home of “One Horned Rhinoceros”. Check in at your hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

Kaziranga National Park

Early morning explore any one zone of Kaziranga National Park on back of Elephant. Apart from the Rhino, other species found are Hog Deer, Swamp Deer, Wild Buffalo, Elephants and if you are lucky then tiger also. It is also home to pelicans, storks and darters as there are a number of water bodies inside the Park. Return to the resort for breakfast. Mid morning at leisure. In the afternoon enjoy jeep safari through the National Park. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

Kaziranga National Park–Guwahati (220Kms / 5Hrs)

After breakfast drive to Guwahati. Arrive and check in at your hotel. Evening visit 'Kalakshetra', a place where Assamese history and culture is presented through light and sound show. Return to hotel. Overnight stay at Guwahati.

Shopping in Meghalaya can be exciting, as the state has a well-known handicraft industry that is run by the tribal people. Some of the important shopping hubs are:


Shillong- There is a plethora of options for shopping in Shillong and some of the prominent markets include Barabazar and Police Bazaar. Shopaholics can head to Barabazar, which is one of the oldest and traditional markets in Shillong. Renowned as the Iewduh Market, Barabazar is the place to buy local handicrafts made out of bamboo and wood. Tibetan artefacts, honey, bamboo pickle and Khasi dresses are some of the other things you may buy from here. Another important market in Shillong is the Police Bazaar, which has small shops offering various options to the buyers. Authentic local handicrafts and souvenirs are available at Purbashree in Police Bazaar, which is an emporium run by the Government of Meghalaya.


Guwahati- Shopping in Guwahati includes buying Muga, Pat and Endi silks; bamboo and cane decorative items. There are plenty of government emporiums that sell these at reasonable prices. The main shopping areas are Paltan Bazaar, GNB Road and Fancy Bazaar.

Money- The currency of India is Indian Rupees (INR). The currency exchange departments are present in almost every Indian city. You can also exchange your currency in 5 star and 4 star hotels, no other currency is valid except for Indian currency (INR).

Festivals and Fairs in Meghalaya- Meghalaya celebrates a few festivals with gusto and some of them are the Nongkrem Dance which is held in October/November. This Khasi festival is a thanksgiving to the almighty for a good harvest, peace and prosperity. The Wangala is an important festival of the Garo tribe. The festival, also called Dance of Hundred Drums, marks the end of a period of toil and heralds a good yield and it is celebrated in November. Behdienkhlam is celebrated in July every year by the Jaintias right after sowing the crop. Young men beat the rooftops of every house with bamboo poles. This is a symbolic gesture of driving away the evil spirit, plague and pestilence.
