Situated on a hilly terrain, this fort commands a panoramic view of the fabulous valley below. The crisscross pathway to the uphill is boarded by statues of Jain Theerthankaras, carved into rock faces. A massive structure, being the largest one of its kind, the Gwalior fort is a classic example of medieval architecture.

Jai Vilas Palace - The Museum exhibits a collection of antiques belong to the Scindia reign. Two Belgian chandeliers weighing several tons will definitely catch the sight of everyone. Each article put on display in the museum is worthy to be mentioned, but some rare collections like a glass cradle from Italy, silver dinner services and swords that were once worn by Aurangzeb and Shah Jahan are conspicuous.

Man Mandir Palace - Man Mandir Palace at Gwalior occupies a significant place in Indian history. A heartrending ambiance of graciousness and valor of those days still loiters in the silent chambers of this royal mansion. The only fascinating feature in this palace is the nicely carved stone walls of the vast chambers. One among the important spot in this palace is the Jauhar Pond, where the Rajput ladies committed sati. The circular prison in the palace had witnessed the brutal murder of Murad by the hands of his own brother.

Suraj Kund - The myth behind this legendary pond is very fascinating. It says that the chronic illness of Suraj Sen was cured after he had tasted the water of the pond. The king as a token of his gratitude towards the saint, who had cured his disease, built a tank and the mighty fort and named the city after the sage. The pond that can be seen in the fort drags the attention of the people because of its great historical value.

Saas Bahu Temple - Saas-Bahu temple in the fort allures not only the devotees but also the tourists with its artistic value. As its name denotes, these temples are not dedicated to Saas (mother-in-law) and Bahu (daughter-in-law) but rather the short form of Shashtra Bahu, another name of Lord Vishnu. These temples situated adjacent to each other and the larger one is elaborately decorated with beautiful carvings and sculptures. The roof of the larger temple is adorned with a marvelous lotus carving which is very fascinating.

Teli Ka Mandir - The temple bears a close resemblance to Prathihara Vishnu temple, and is filled with images of coiled serpents, passionate couples, river goddesses and a flying Garuda. The temple architecture follows Indo Aryan and Nagara style that exhibits superior artistic caliber. A marvelous temple, believed to be the oldest constructions in the fort gives enchanting experience to the visitor.

Tomb of Ghaus Mohammed - It is amazing to see that the tomb of a Sufi becomes a famous pilgrimage center of both Muslims and Hindus. The mausoleum of Ghaus Mohammad exhibits typical Mughal architecture, its hexagonal pillars and screens using pierced stone technique are simply marvelous.

Padavali and Bateshwar - Padavali is famous for the magnificent temple built on the fortress of Padavali. The temple displays classic architecture, which can be equated with any of the famous temples. The Bateshwar valley is famous for the numerous temples, most of which are in a ruined condition.
