Located on the periphery of reserve forest, Corbett Machaan Resort offers an authentic jungle experience. The resort is full of natural vegetation to provide a jungle experience and one gets the opportunity to experience the wildlife from the resort itself. The resort comprises of 10 independent AC Luxury Huts & 2 Luxury Tents perfectly distant from each other to provide privacy yet togetherness for its visitors. All 10 independent huts are comfortable, spacious, beautifully furnished, equipped with all modern amenities and yet retain the feel of jungle. A restful lawn overlooking the vista of jungles is the perfect place to relax and feel the jungle. Open outdoor seating area, Gol ghar with central bonfire place and recreational room with library offers panoramic views of the jungle. The resort conducts wildlife movie show every alternate evening followed by discussion round to provide guests with the knowledge of flora and fauna.

Introduction:

Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India named after the hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett who played a key role in its establishment. It is situated in Nainital district of Uttarakhand the park acts as a protected area for the endangered Bengal tiger of India, the secure survival of which is the main objective of Project Tiger, an Indian wildlife protection initiative.

Places of Tourist Interest:

Ramganga Reservoir - It is the main Dhikala camp area of the park, has over 600 species of birds, including the pied kingfisher, crested serpent eagle, fishing eagle and Himalayan grey headed fishing eagle.


Main Entry Gates of Jim Corbett National Park:

Jhirna Gate - This area is full of natural beauty and specially known for its wild bear.


Durga Devi Gate - This zone is a hilly area and is situated along the banks of Ramganga River. Besides looking at wildlife and look at popular Mahasheer fish in the river waters.


Sitabani Gate - It's a famous zone for bird watching. Scenic view of this part of the forest calls many tourists again and again.


Bijrani Gate - Bijrani is a beautiful spot and is known for its vast grass lands, deep forest, stormy drains and wild life. To visit this area, permission is granted by the Director, Corbett Tiger Reserve. Maximum 30 vehicles are allowed to travel into Bijrani during morning and same number of vehicles is allowed in the evening hours.


Dhangari Gate - Dhikala is the biggest forest zone in the Corbett national park and you enter this zone via Dhangari gate

Fauna at Corbett National Park:

The Tiger - The tiger (Panthera Tigris) is perhaps the most celebrated of the wild animals of India. It is symbolises the power of Nature and finds an important place in our culture, mythology and legends. There existed eight subspecies of tiger, out of which three have gone extinct. There are estimated to be only 5000 to 7500 tigers surviving in the world.

The Asian Elephant - The elephant, largest of the land mammals, has been an integral part of the history, mythology, tradition, culture and religion of India. Asian elephants have been domesticated for thousands of years and have been used in medieval warfare, for temples, and as a working animal.
