Kareri Lake is best known for being a trekking destination in the Dhuladhar range. The walk takes you through pristine Oak, Pine and Rhododendron forests. Kareri Lake is situated at an altitude of 3100m it is a shallow fresh water lake. This trek is great for the first time trekker and is a perfect introduction to the great ranges. Our trip begins from the laid back town of Mcleodganj. Apart from the fact that Mcleodganj is the headquarters for the Tibetan government in exile, it is also an amazing place to hang around with great food joints, small bakeries and lovely book shops. One can enjoy hanging around in Mcleodganj as the place has this fantastic energy to it and you never know who you run into maybe the Dalai Lama or even Richard Gere.

Getting There
By Air

Gaggal airport (also known as Dharamsala airport) in Kangra valley is the nearest airport. The airport is 15 KMs away from Dharamsala. This airport connects domestic flights to Delhi. International travelers have to connect through Delhi Airport, which is about 520 KMs away from Dharamsala. Delhi Airport is connected to all major cities in India and abroad.

By Rail

Nearest railway station is Kangra Mandir at a distance of 22KMs from Dharamsala. All trains won't stop here. The major rail junction is Pathankot, which is about 85 KMs away from Dharamsala. Pathakot is well connected to all major cities in India.

By Road

You can drive from Delhi (526 KMs) via Chandigarh, Kiratpur and Bilaspur to Dharamsala and takes 12 hours or can drive from Pathankot and the drive takes about 3 hours.

Arrival At Dharamshala

Participants arrive in Dharamshala/ Mcleodganj. Day free to explore and soak in the energy of Mcleodganj.

Day 2
Mcleodganj (1750m) to Kareri Village camp (1800m)

Our today’s trail is pretty straight forward and takes us up past small mountain villages. The village is straddled on a sloping ridge and adorned with terrace fields at the outer fringes. 

Trek Duration: 4 to 5 Hours

Day 3
Kareri Village Camp To Liyoti (2450m)

Our today’s trek begins with a  steep ascent through dense forest along the Liund river to Liyoti. The trail goes along the river which has to be crossed a number of times over some improvised bridges and boulders. We camp tonight in an open meadow at Liyoti.

Day 4
Liyoti To Kareri Lake(3100m)

Today’s walk is not a very long walk. Kareri lake is small mountain lake at the base of Minkani pass. The lake keeps religious significance for the local people who come here on pilgrimage every year. Our tonights camp in an open meadow on the side of the lake with big views of Baleni Pass, Minkani pass and the valley below.

Day 5
Kareri Lake Back To Ghera

Kareri Lake back to Ghera where Jeeps will pick us up and drive us back to Mcleodganj and also the end of our trip.

Cancellation Policy
  • If you cancel 20 days before the trip begins, we retain 20% of the trip cost.
  • If you cancel 15 days before the trip begins, we will retain 50 % of the trip cost.
  • If you cancel less than 14 days before the trip begins, or, are not present when the trip begins, there will be no refund.

While maximum efforts are made to ensure the safety of the participant. However, management or employees will not be responsible for injuries of any nature, mental or physical, whether caused directly or indirectly due to any adventures or their allied activities.

  • All participants are requested to download the risk form sign it and get it with them on their respective trips. 
  • Payment terms will be 50% in advance along with program confirmation. 
  • Govt. Service tax @ 9% will be applicable on the total bill.
  • We will take every care to ensure that itineraries are followed to the letter but circumstances beyond control may necessitate changes. In case of changes routes and properties, we will accept no liability but make arrangements for substitution of equal.
  • We will accept no liability for any damage, losses and expenses suffered by any client as a result of sickness, quarantine, weather conditions, war, strikes, riots or any other cause outside our control.
  • Any damage, other than that attributable to fair wear and tear, to the equipments by the participants will be billed to you. Our decision on all such matters will be final and binding.
  • In the event of any dispute, all matters will be subject to the sole jurisdiction of the courts of Himachal and the prevailing law of India shall prevail. Recourse to the courts of any other country will not be applicable.
  • All Prices are eligible for Indian and Foreign Nationals.
  • As per Govt norm Guest's are required to present your photo ID Proof such as PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID or Driving License at the time of availing the Activity.
