By Road

Road: buses are available in frequent manner from Kolkata to Siliguri. Road Distance: 607 kms (377 miles.) Travel Time: 12-14 hrs.Yuksom, the first capital of Sikkim is access able through NH 31A via Jorethang in West Sikkim by road from NJP/Siliguri//Bagdogra. Siliguri to Yuksom is 150 kms, it takes around 6-7 hours to reach Yuksom via Jorethang. The road to Yuksom is poorly lit and it is not advisable to travel in night.Siliguri To Jorethang:Shared Jeeps are available to Jorethang from Siliguri for 170 INR. These Jeeps usually depart from outside the gates of the SNT(Sikkim National Transport) Bus Stand or Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand. Reserving a Jeep to Jorethang will cost you 5500/- onwards.The last bus to Jorethang from SNT Bus Stand is at 10:40 AM. There are no buses to Jorethang from Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus.? Jorethang To Yuksom:Shared or Reserved Jeeps are the only option for commuting between the two places.Shared Jeeps can be availed at a cost of 150 INR. Keep in mind that in order to avail the shared Jeeps, you must reach early and that the last Jeep will leave by 1:00 PM-1:30 PM . To get out of Yuksom, Jeeps are available but mostly they run in the morning, starts at 5:30 AM. You need to book it one day in advance to be sure you get a seat. Goes to Pelling, Geyzing and Jorethang.

Day 1
Siliguri/ NJP/ Bagdogra to Yuksom. By Road 150Km / 6hrs approx

On arrival at Silliguri/ NJP/ Bagdogra you will be greeted by our local representative who will transfer you to Yuksom by road in the evening. On arrival in the hotel you will be briefed about the day's plan. In the evening enjoy tea and snacks and introduction with the team, overnight stay at Yuksom.

Day 2
Yuksom (1706m) to Sachen (2179m), 8kms / 3-4Hrs

We start at ease and hit the trail on a comfortable time as the day is easy. As soon as we leave Yuksom and enter the forest, our hearts are taken right there by the beauty of the typical Sikkimese lush green deep forest. We cross 3 river bridges before reaching our campsite. Sachen is a very small campsite right in the middle of the forests. After sunset, it goes pitch dark here. Accommodation: Tent, Sachen

Day 3
Sachen (2179m) to Tshoka (2956m), 7km / 3-4hrs

Its a short walk today. The trail goes up and down through the deep forest, crossing another river bridge. From here, the trail continuously climbs to reach Bakhim marked by a tea/maggi shop, an abandoned lodge and a trekkers hut. We just cant move forward without having maggi here.. After a course of maggi and tea, we head towards Tshoka, which is 2 kms of steep climb from here. Tshoka is the biggest settlement on this trek with a monastery, Lake and few tea houses. After lunch, we head out to explore the place with our cameras. Tshokha gives us the first glimpses of the snow covered peaks of Pandim, Tenchenkhang, Jupono and Simolchu. Day 4
Tshoka (2956m) to Dzongri (3960m), 10kms / 5-6hrs

We wake up to a scenic morning at Tshokha with the views of Pandim, Tenchenkhang, Jupono and Simolchu. We get ready for the day. Today is slightly difficult as compared to the previous 2 days. The distance is more and the climb up to Phedang and Deorali top is continuously steep from Tshoka. As soon as we start, the trail starts to climb up steeply. During spring season, this trail blooms with Lali Guras (Rhododendron). Phedang is marked by a flat meadow with a trekkers hut. View of the mountain peaks are towards your right from here. Its another hour of steep climb from here before the trail eases out at Deorali Top. We have our packed lunch at Deorali Top. It is marked by Buddhist prayer flags furling over a small meadow, with tall trees surrounding all round. Views of Kanchenjunga and other peaks from here makes this place very picturesque. Its the highest point on today's trail. From here, the trail goes up and down on the humps with huge juniper bushes on both the sides. After gradually descending for some 20 odd minutes, we reach Dzongiri - A beautiful place with river flowing right through it, 2 small shops and a trekkers hut. We ease out for the day and relax. Day 5
Dzongri Top (4170m) Sunrise view to Kokchurong (3660m), 8kms / 4-5hrs

We wake up before morning to climb up to Dzongri top to see a natural magic of morning sunrise light up the snow covered peaks of the region. Its an hours climb from our campsite. When we reach the top, we are mesmerized by what we see. Kanchenjunga gets the first light as its the highest and slowly starts turning golden. Other peaks slowly join hands. After some time, all the peaks are lighted and they loose the goldenness. After getting satisfying views of the sunrise, we head back to have our breakfast and the head to Kokchurong. Today's itinerary play a very important role in acclimatizing as we have already climbed up Dzongri, and will be sleeping at Kokchurong, which is lower to Dzongri. The trail to Kokchurong climbs up gently to a small pass and then we enter the Prek Chu valley. From here, the trail descend gradually through the meadows before climbing steeply downhill to Kokchurong. Kokchurong is marked by the Prek Chu river, a wooden bridge over it, and a small trekkers hut. Accommodation: Tent, Kokchurong

Day 6
Kokchurong (3660m) to Lamuney (4150m) via Thansing (3890m), 6kms / 4-5hrs

We start early today. From Kokchuorong, we cross the river and start climbing to Thansing, a vast flat meadow with sharp peaks surrounding it. Tenchenkhang 6010m and Jupono stands right on top of it with Pandim at a little distance. Up straight is the Kanchenjunga. The walk from here is almost flatish to Lamuney, our camp for the day. Lamuney is marked by a trekkers hut. With Lamuney, we have brought ourselves closer to the mountains. After lunch, if the weather is clear, we go for acclimatization walk to Samity Lake. A lake so pristine and peaceful that you will just melt into it. If time or weather does not permit, we will anyways have to visit it tomorrow while going to Goecha La. In the meanwhile we can watch beautiful sunset on the white peaks right from our tents if we wish to. However, the play of the mountains won't let you remain inside your tents. Camera and the mountains are your best buddies today. We have early dinner and sleep, As we have to wake up early the following morning to reach Goecha La intime to catch a good Sunrise. Day 7
Lamuney (4150m) to Goecha La (4950m) to Lamuney (4150m), 16Kms / 7-8hrs

We start at around 3 AM today with packed breakfast. There is no view point for us as we head for the pass.The walk through the silence of the night with an amazing feeling. As we keep walking up, down and flatish, it slowly dawns giving us a sight to die for, cry for and go crazy for. Around 4 hours of walk takes us to Goecha La. From here, you stand on the ridge of Pandim, touching it. Kanchenjunga stands right in front of you, almost touchable on the other side of the pass. We see the Goecha Peak, Kabru Forked and Kabru Dome on our left. Tenchenkhang and Jupono behind us. We offer prayers and turn back after spending good amount of time there. On return, we spend some more time around Samity Lake and head back for lunch. If time and energy permits, we will push down to camp at Thansing. Else we will leave that for the next day. Day 8
Lamuney (4150m) to Tshokha (2956m), 18Kms / 7-8hrs

We walk back on our route till Kokchurong. From there, we trek on the curly flatish trail with small humps thorough the forest to reach Phedang. The walk is almost flat. We have our lunch at Phedang and the head steep downhill to Tshoka. Accommodation: Tent, Tshoka

Day 9
Tshoka (2956m) to Yuksom (1706m), 15Kms / 5-6hrs

As we leave the mountains behind, we feel sad for it. However, returning to our loved ones motivates us and keeps us going. We trek back on the same trail and cross 4 bridges to reach Yuksom. After we reach Yuksom, we celebrate our successful trek. Have our last dinner together. Accommodation: Hotel, Yuksom

Yuksom to Onward Destination

Important Information

Porter Services:Carrying backpack: We encourage you to be a true explorer; and it begins with carrying your own backpack. Identify the absolutely essential things to carry and avoid carrying unnecessary items; this will keep your backpack light and your gait fast. We advise you to limit your overall baggage within 8-10 kg (including everything you bring from home). If you want to offload your backpack in that case you can avail personal porter service; cost mentioned in each itinerary detail according to the travel location. Trekkers need to inform us on extra off load at least 15 days prior to the trek start date. The payment needs to done before the start of a trek.

NOTE: The amount to be paid for backpack offloading is for the entire duration of the trek. There are no partial payments.

Emergency on a trek: If there is a medical emergency on the trek, especially anything related to altitude and medical emergencies, your exploration leaders are trained to handle crisis. Trek orgnisers & teams carry high altitude emergency equipment, oxygen, and other emergency medical kits. Most situations are resolved by the exploration leader's intervention. If, however, evacuation is required, it is carried out by the team. The affected participant is moved down to the nearest emergency medical centre as soon as possible. This can take time, even 2-3 days, especially from high camps.

Cancellation Policy

If for some reason you wish to cancel the trek, an email intimation needs to be sent. Cancellation requests are not taken over phone. Cancellation refunds are made to the same bank/credit card account from which the payment has been made. While we make full effort to process cancellation requests within 24 hours, please allow time of up to 10-12 days for the refund to reflect back to your account (the time taken is by our payment gateway and the bank/card involved).

The cancellation charges are as under:

  •    Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the trek -- full refund.
  •    Cancellation between 30 days and 20 days to the start of the trek -- 50% refund. 
  •    Cancellation less than 20 days to the start of the trek -- No refund

NOTE: There will be a deduction of 3.09% as bank charges on all refunds.

Rescheduling of a trek: If owing to some reason, a participant is unable to do the trek outside the cancellation period (less than 30 days from the trek start date), instead of losing any trek fee a participant can reschedule the trek to a future date/season. A trek can be rescheduled only once by a participant. A rescheduled trek cannot be cancelled.

If we call off a trek: If a trek is called off at the last moment due to a natural calamity (like rains, earthquake, landslides, etc) or man-made issues (strikes/curfews), worry not. We will issue a Trek Voucher for the full amount, that you can redeem to do the same trek as per the rescheduled dates, or you can choose any other trek of equivalent value in the next one year. In case you wish to redeem the voucher for a trek of non-equivalent value, the differential amount can be paid/adjusted separately. Your money is NOT lost.

No show on a trek: If for some reason a participant does not turn up for the trek without prior intimation or cancellation notice, it is considered as a cancellation (Example, due to miss of a flight/train), and the usual cancellation rules will apply. We will, on our part will try to accommodate such trekkers in another group at no extra cost during the same trekking season as per slot availability.

If you drop out during trek: While on the trek, if for some reason a participant has to drop out on any day (Eg, tiredness, fatigue or symptoms of altitude sickness, etc) then Trek Organisers will make arrangements for his/her return to the nearest road head based on feasibility of geographic location. A staff will accompany the participant to the nearest road head/village. After a participant returns to the road head/village any further transportation or stay cost at any location, has to be borne by the participant according to his/her own plan.
